Welcome to our updated web site. "Slowbriety" is the lifetime process of recovery, from our addictions and our character defects. Recovery is about regaining our health; mind, body and spirit. All three are connected. We recommend treatment in all three, with the reminder to not try to do too much at one time. Relax and take it easy. Be grateful you are on the right track. We did not create our current situation in one day, and will not be able to fix everything immediately. Sometimes it can be hard to lighten up, but we get the tools to live a comfortable sober life one day at a time. We do not control outcomes. We are simply responsible for taking actions to head us in the right treatment directions. The baffling feature of addiction (including alcoholism) is the utter inability to leave it alone, no matter how great the necessity or wish. Willpower could not keep us sober. Many of us got sober many times. STAYING sober is the goal. We needed a power greater than ourselves and have found one through the twelve steps. We have a Great Fact and that is "see to it that your relationship with Him is right, and great events will come to pass for you and countless others". But treatment involves more than just 12 step programs. A brief history for Sam Kent-founder and President of Pro Active Treatment..... I am in my 20th year in recovery and have worked in treatment since 1993. I was born in Kansas City and at age ten I moved to Baltimore for the next ten. I came to California for a 2 week vacation and ended up working and staying in sunny southern California. I went back to school in the early 90's for the hours needed as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, receiving straight "A's" in all eight portions of the course. I have over 25,000 hours in the field working as a Sober Coach, at treatment centers, residential treatment facilities and also with court ordered clients for DUI and/or Drug Diversion programs. I am President of Pro Active Treatment L.L.C. and helping others has become my life's work. I believe staying active helping others has benefited me tremendously. We are here for you.

AND NOW..... I have gotten into the specialized areas of treatment as a Sober Coach or Client Liaison. This involves staying with clients as a hands on treatment professional, helping them stay sober anywhere, any place and any time. A live in "Personal Recovery Trainer" if you will. Whether it be in town, transitioning the client from a treatment facility to their home, on a tour, at a studio or on the road, our valuable expertise is available during any waking hour. Many clients are vulnerable when newly sober. Monitoring them as a Sober Coach, one on one, provides an excellent safety net. Making sure they get involved in their recovering community, go to meetings and helping them find a sponsor are imperative. A solid foundation at the beginning of their recovery process is a major goal. We will exercise with them. (I am a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate as well as an active Bally's gym member). We will enjoy life sober, work out, lift weights, play games, golf, tennis etc... whatever the client enjoys doing (or used to enjoy doing before their addiction/s got in the way). We will also set attainable goals and strive to achieve them. We will review what they have worked on in treatment, go through various reading and writing assignments-both written and orally, and continue to point them in the direction of recovery. It is a disease of mind, body and spirit and we will involve the client in treatment in all three of these areas daily. You can consider me a Sober Coach with a sense of humor who knows addiction is a deadly disease and understands confidentiality. The solutions are there for anyone who has a desire to get well and improve their quality of life. We are also available to transport any client to any destination anywhere; a treatment facility, engagement, or court appearance, etc. We will make sure they arrive on time, safe and SOBER!
